In the fall of 2016, I dramaturged and directed the American premiere of Shaip Grabovci’s Njerëz Me Shpresa Të Thyera (“Men with Broken Hopes”) at SHSU. This was the Albanian-language play I had directed four years earlier in Kosovo using an interpreter. As the dramaturg for this project, I transcribed verbatim audio files (Albanian to English) and then adapted the material for our staged production.

The Ensemble produces a mainstage season of six contemporary and classic works devoted to the portrayal of the African American Experience by local and national playwrights.
